One of 70 Bajillion Reasons Why The Scale Is Whack

oh who even cares.

So, as you may know, I tend to think the scale isn’t very important in living a healthy life, or even really in a weight loss journey. But that’s another post. And a much longer one. I just wanted to share this experience with you all.

I only get on the scale mid-week when I’m feeling curious as to how different activities affect my weight. I don’t do it a lot because I generally don’t really care what the scale has to tell me, but today after my run, the shower was taking a long time to warm up.

So I got on the scale

It showed a number, which is +1.4 pounds from what I “weighed in” at on Friday morning right after waking up. Today (shockingly) I ate and drank–what I weigh on a random evening isn’t really comparable to what I weigh first thing in the morning.

Then I went to the bathroom. And got on the scale again. Going to the bathroom made me gain 1.2 pounds.

Then I showered. And I got on the scale again. With wet hair. And i lost 0.2 pounds!

Clearly there’s no rhyme or reason to any of this.

But maybe it’s having a funky scale with an attitude problem that helps me to be so disinterested in what it has to say.
